LIST OF SERVICES PERFORMED

    • Garbhaadhaan Sanskar—Sacrement on conception-Garbhaadhaan is performed at pre-conception with the aim of having a healthy child. Ceremony is done with Havan – chanting of appropriate Mantras.
    • Punsavan Sanskar—Procreation ceremony—is performed during the third or the fourth month of pregnancy. Havan is done with mantras to invoke divine and good qualities in the developing fetus and for prevention of miscarriage.
    • Seemantonnayan Sanskar—Mental development/growth ceremony—done during seventh month of pregnancy—prayers are offered for brain development of the unborn child.
    • Jaat-Karma—Ceremony for the new born is performed at the birth of the child as a welcoming ceremony
    • Naamkaran Sanskar—Ceremony for naming the child—the parents assign a name to the child that gives inspiration to achieve the inherent qualities.
    • Nishkraman Sanskar—Introduction to outer environment–baby is taken out of the house for the first time—prayers are offered.
    • Anna-Praashan Sanskar—first feed of cereal to the child- during sixth month to introduce grains and other foods into the infant’s diet.
    • Mundan /Choodaakaram Sanskar—Shaving of the hair/crown—usually performed either in the first or the third year with the chanting of Veda mantras.
    • Karna-Vedh Sanskar—Ceremony of ear-piercing done in the third or fifth year of life, which is normally done by the girls.
    • Upanayan Sanskar—sacred thread ceremony emphasizes the importance of good education, discipline and celibacy during the youth.
    • Ved-Aarambh Sanskar—initiation to the study of Vedas/spiritual education, Devotion to the Guru/Acharya is critical. –this is done with Upanayan procedure.
    • Samaavarttan Sanskar—completion of education before entering the Grihasth Aashram.
